Kitsilano’s Broadway area is entering a major period of change, led by new secured-market rental housing. The Broadway–Arbutus project is under construction and planned to include 256 homes in a 31-storey building, with completion expected in 2029. Nearby, two proposed 22-storey towers at 2244–2280 West 6th Avenue could add 416 rental homes, while an approved 22-storey tower at 2260–2266 West 2nd Avenue would provide another 176 units. Timelines can shift as approvals and construction progress. Together, these projects raise an important question: will Kitsilano become a second downtown, or remain a quieter urban centre?
