More residents, more housing and more highrise towers in store for East Vancouver

Vancouver City Council approved the Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan to guide growth around SkyTrain stations for 30 years. Covering 6.6 sq km, it plans over 10,000 new homes, increasing population from 30,900 to 49,600, with high-density towers near stations and mid-rise buildings farther out. The plan includes flood risk management for Still Creek and aims to balance growth with environmental repair, though concerns remain about affordability and funding.
